See Panthers, Rangers unveiling 2026 NHL Winter Classic uniforms.

The New York Rangers and the Florida Panthers unveiled their unique jerseys for the upcoming 2026 NHL Winter Classic. Set to take place on Jan. 2 at LoanDepot Park, home of MLB's Miami Marlins, this will be a groundbreaking event as the first outdoor game in Florida and the southernmost outdoor game in NHL history. The Panthers will be making their stadium game debut, making the Utah Mammoth the only NHL team yet to participate in such an event.
Florida's Winter Classic jersey pays homage to the team's original "leaping panther" logo but with a vintage twist. Fanatics' creative director, Dom Fillion, revealed that the Viola family, owners of the Panthers, provided valuable input into the design process. They proposed reimagining the "leaping Panther" logo from the 1920s era, resulting in a meticulously hand-stitched crafted emblem that captures the essence of that period.
Adding to the classic aesthetic are sleeve and sock stripes, along with a deeper shade of red compared to their usual jerseys. The jersey features a shoulder patch showcasing the Florida state flag and the team's "walking panther" design, while a subtle yet intriguing detail is the silhouette of a rat on the hem—an ode to Panthers fans' tradition of tossing plastic rats onto the ice.
The Rangers' Winter Classic jerseys are part of the franchise's centennial season celebrations, complementing their current blue Centennial jerseys. However, instead of "Rangers" emblazoned diagonally across the chest, the Winter Classic iteration opts for "New York." The predominant color is an off-white hue reminiscent of their Centennial look.
Noteworthy is the red apple motif on the shoulder, previously featured discreetly on their Centennial jersey hem. Enlarged on the Winter Classic jersey, the design includes a modern "NYR" wordmark. Fillion shared that the inspiration for the apple logo was uncovered from an old Rangers practice jersey, resonating with historical elements to create a distinctive piece that received the team's approval.
As an interesting twist, the Winter Classic is one of two NHL stadium games set in Florida this season. The Tampa Bay Lightning will also join the outdoor action by hosting the Boston Bruins on Feb. 1 at Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
