Reports: Mavs' Cooper Flagg sidelined for initial game due to illness

A sickness will force Dallas Mavericks newcomer Cooper Flagg to sit out of Wednesday's matchup against the New York Knicks at home, sources revealed.
The top overall selection in the 2025 draft, Flagg was listed on the injury report Wednesday morning alongside forward Caleb Martin, missing the team's pre-game shootaround.
Despite battling with a tender left shoulder and a sprained right thumb needing a splint, Flagg had been a constant starter for the 4-11 Mavericks.
At just 18 years old, Flagg has been delivering impressive numbers, averaging 15.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game.
