Coastal Carolina athletic director warned for mistreating NCAA referees.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Following an incident during Game 2 of the College World Series finals back in June, Coastal Carolina athletic director Chance Miller received a public reprimand from the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee on Friday.
The reprimand stemmed from Miller's actions, which involved berating the NCAA national coordinator of umpires in a public setting and later confronting NCAA staff in the hallways of Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.
Reports indicated that Miller's frustrations were triggered by an umpire's decision to eject Coastal Carolina coach Kevin Schnall and assistant Matt Schilling during the first inning of their game against LSU on June 22.
The committee found Miller in violation of a bylaw that prohibits misconduct during an NCAA championship, defining it as any behavior that tarnishes the event or collegiate athletics as a whole, from the announcement of the championship field to its conclusion.
As a consequence of his actions, Miller has been barred from attending the opening game of Coastal Carolina's next NCAA baseball regional.
Committee chair Jay Artigues, who also serves as the director of athletics at Southeastern Louisiana, expressed strong disapproval of Miller's behavior, emphasizing that such actions have no place in any NCAA championship event. Artigues stressed that as an athletic director, Miller is expected to exemplify the highest standards of conduct, a standard that Miller failed to meet on this occasion.
The pivotal moment that instigated the chain of events occurred during the game when Coastal Carolina's Walker Mitchell was at bat with two outs. Schnall, the head coach, was visibly upset with a call and proceeded to confront plate umpire Angel Campos, resulting in his ejection from the game for disputing balls and strikes. Despite the ensuing drama, LSU emerged victorious with a 5-3 win, securing their second national championship in three years.
