Anthony Yarde aiming for success in David Benavidez title fight.

Anthony Yarde is gearing up for his third shot at a world light heavyweight title, determined to make it third time lucky. After falling short against Artur Beterbiev and Sergey Kovalev in previous attempts, Yarde (27-3, 24 KOs) is now eyeing the WBC belt currently held by American David Benavidez (30-0, 24 KOs). This upcoming challenge in Saudi Arabia presents Yarde, who hails from east London, with another chance to etch his name in the boxing annals.

Despite being labeled as the underdog yet again, Yarde feels he has evolved since his past defeats. The 34-year-old fighter, who succumbed to Beterbiev in eight rounds and pushed Kovalev to the 11th before facing stoppage, believes experience is now on his side. Recalling his previous battles, Yarde remarked, "I've had enough of being the entertaining loser. It's high time I turn the tables this time."

Yarde continued, "The key difference between the old me and the present me is experience. If I were to face Beterbiev again, I am confident of a different outcome. Those encounters have undoubtedly sculpted me into a superior fighter."

Reflecting on his learnings from the Beterbiev clash, Yarde shared, "He's a tough opponent, but I've realized I possess the same resilience. I spotted certain vulnerabilities in Beterbiev’s game which prompted Dmitry Bivol to take him on. My fight against Beterbiev unveiled facets of his style that were previously unseen."

While both Beterbiev and Kovalev carried fearsome reputations as knockout specialists, Yarde is quick to acknowledge the prowess of Benavidez, who prepares for his first title defense against the British challenger. Having witnessed Benavidez's recovery from a knockdown in his recent triumph over David Morell, Yarde respects his opponent's mettle.

"You never underestimate someone's punching power until you exchange blows with them in the ring," Yarde stated in anticipation of the showdown.

Since his encounters with the heavy-handed Russians, Yarde has secured four victories, the most recent being a unanimous decision win over Lyndon Arthur in April. With his eyes firmly set on the upcoming clash, Yarde sees this fight as a potential life-altering moment. "This bout has the power to redefine my future. I left it all in the ring against Arthur, but I know I have more to offer," he affirmed.
